First of all, why join our twins club?

What do you get in return for the price of your membership?

The Aldershot & Farnborough Twins and Triplets Club was founded to give support to parents of young multiples - twins and more - in the Farnborough and Aldershot area. Anyone who has been there knows how difficult it can be adjusting to life with one new baby, let alone two or more at the same time, and the support group that helps you through the early months remains just as important as the children grow towards school age.

At a twins' club you will find parents of children at all ages, and in all situations who will be able to offer friendship, support, a sympathetic ear, experience and advice. Whether you are expecting twins or triplets, or already have them and are encountering one of the many challenging stages of development and need some advice on how to handle them, we probably have somebody who will know how you feel.

More than anything, at the Aldershot & Farnborough Twins and Triplets Club you get to meet with other parents of multiples, people who understand what it takes to bring up more than one child of the same age at the same time. It is not necessarily harder bringing up twins than bringing up two children of different ages, but it is different. Everyone at the club is dealing with twins or more, and can offer genuine experience, and swap tried and tested solutions to all your problems. In turn you too can give advice back to the club: a steady stream of inexperienced parents joins all the time.

Always bear in mind, though, that the advice given is not medically proven: although offered with the best of intentions, you and your GP/Health visitor will know more about your own personal situation.

The next good reason is that the club takes care of the Mums: recognising that - in general - Mums do not often get a break, we organise nights out specifically to ensure that they do: an evening round at somebody's house, a quiz night down the pub, a meal at a restaurant; anything that leaves the children at home.

We have a Playgroup at Aldershot every second Monday, and the club also organises trips, functions and days out to include the whole family - from simple local picnics to days out at major attractions - bringing the non-twin children and the fathers into the fold. Full details are published in the monthly newsletter, or see the What's On section of the website.

We also have links with the Twins And Multiple Births Association (TAMBA), and with other local clubs.

The Cost of Membership

Consent to use photographs of your family in Club publications

Something that we greatly appreciate is the fact that so many of our members are happy for us to use images of their family to promote the club and to feature in the write ups of the events we hold. However at tthe same time, we recognise the right of those same members to withhold or withdraw their permission, whether for a specific phgotgraph or for their family as a whole. It may also be that their permission is withheld only for certain uses, like the website, for example.

With this in mind we ask all our members to complete a consent form so that we can adhere to their wishes as closely as possible. Should your viewpoint on this issue change at any point, simply complete and date another form, and send it in. For reasons of security, we can only accept actual signed consent forms, so that we can be sure of their origin.

Got an idea for a logo?

We are looking for a decent logo for the club. The one above is just one possible submission, and we would like to see your ideas to encapsulate the general feel of the Aldershot and Farnborough Twins Club.

Whether fully formed or even just a rough sketch of an idea, send them in to the usual address.

Do you know any good restaurants where you can take the children without feeling intimidated?

Let us know, so we can add it to our listing, so that having children does not have to mean that you cannot find good food when you go out.
