Welcome to the Second edition of the
Aldershot and Farnborough Twins and Triplets Club website

"As soon as you get used to something," you are going to say, "you go and bloomin' well change it!"

Well, yes: I'm afraid so. We were always a little perturbed by the innocence of the old style site: not very savvy, a little bit clunky, with an out of date feel that made it look like it had been written back in the 90's, before the web took off...

All very true, except that last bit: written in the winter of 2006-7, but from a book that was written 10 years ago, as the concepts of DVD and Broadband were just coming in. It was always our intention to update the layout to something a little more polished, and less dependent on screen resolution. Also we now have a better idea of what we want to use our website for: at first it was great just to have a presence on the web, and anything was fine and dandy. Now we have had a chance to think about it, come up with a strategy, think "mission statement", and it all gets terribly posh.

So here it is: our intention is to make it clearer to find what you are interested in, to make cleaner and less cluttered, and lay out the information in an easier format to use. We hope you like it, and as ever, any constructive comments, ideas, links or articles that you feel could be included are very welcome: just send in an email, FAO the Website, and we shall see what we can do!

Former committee member Fiona Hall wrote in the February newsletter:

"I was stopped the other day in the supermarket (again!) by a much older lady who asked, 'Are they twins?' 'Yes,' I replied wearily as it was about the tenth time I had been stopped that day. Then the lady said, 'I remember when my twin boys were this age, they were an absolute delight but hard work too. They are 47 now!'

"It was funny because my attitude towards her immediately changed when I knew she had twins as well. She was not just another well meaning old lady with a passing comment. I knew that when she said they were both hard work and a delight, she genuinely understood and appreciated what that meant. There is something about having a multiple birth that gives you an instant connection with someone who has shared the same experience, even a complete stranger in a supermarket.

"That is what is great about our club: it is really great to have that connection with a group of people who have not only shared your experience but can offer an alternative perspective, help or advice."

Everything we do at the Aldershot and Farnborough Twins Club is done with that maxim in mind: a connection based on shared experience. We know it can be tough, lonely, or even uncertain, but if asked we can offer help, company, or advice, at the same time as offering trips for the children, the mothers or the whole family.
